The second point is quite surprising to me because I use a lower end wheel and generally don’t like FFB that doesn’t have rear end telemetry added to the FFB. The comments I have are that the FFB is very immersive, and that I generally feel like I know what the car is doing. There are others far better than me to comment on the physics, and endless forums to boot. On some cars it did capture the “edges” of the rev range where the engine was under strain with some pep, but overall it doesn’t express the “passion” of racing like RaceRoom, ACC, or even AMS2. The fidelity is lacking even on the new IR18 Ind圜ar, and it comes off as a bit flat. It’s under the controller settings section for some reason (I couldn’t find it for a bit). As a sidenote, turn off head movement in VR. I could probably turn some things up with some tinkering, but it’s at least on par with iRacing’s VR in my opinion.
I did fine on medium with an RTX 2060 Super and post processing turned off. A big issue is there just isn’t enough light in the world. The graphics on a flat screen do look a bit dated at this point. Props to S397 for fixing the biggest user experience issues that kept people from even getting on track. One huge thing that should be said is the new UI is so much faster than the old one. Really though, it does what it needs to do without getting in the way and that’s really all I care about. With as many toggles as it has it seems like a visual representation of a config file. Functional is the best way to describe it. It’s only worth writing this because it was so bad before. It says something about simracing that a new UI being released for an aging game can cause as much discussion as the new rF2 UI did.

For those who just love to drive, this isn’t a big issue, but for those who crave competition it is certainly a drawback. The total absence of any sort of a career mode or custom championships in singleplayer can lead to a somewhat empty experience. Obviously, the driving itself is very high quality – the game isn’t considered to be one of the best simulations on the market for no reason! However, is it enough for a sim racing game to simply have the best physics and force feedback systems? Where the game excels in driving feel, it lacks in driving content. So this new aspect of the game get’s Joe’s thumbs up.
Confusing, ugly and cluttered menus that used to be a feature of the game are all gone now, and the sleek redesign works wonders for the game’s overall usability.
